Our Giving to Charities & Missions in 2009

It is our aim each year to give a tithe of our Parish income to Charities and Missions.  This year the Church Council have decided to support the charities listed below.  To find out more about the causes we are supporting, please follow the highlighted links:

The Bishop’s Lent Appeal for the work of Thandanani in South Africa, £150;

The Bishop’s Advent Appeal for Childaid, £150;

Caritas, the Catholic Charity working for those in need here in the Canary Islands, € 300;

Christian Aid £300;

El Cribo, an association supporting people here in Lanzarote disabled by mental illness, €300;

Joliba Trust, supporting grassroots development work with farming and cattle raising communities in Mali, € 300;

Peru Partners, to support those from our Achdeaconry going to help the church in Peru (see the Parish news item for details), €300;

RNLI £300;

Rock of Ages Campaign for Gibraltar Cathedral , £150;

USPG, supporting our Archdeaconry’s link with the Diocese of Peru, £200;

Young Heroes, a charity providing respite breaks here in Playa Blanca for young people with cancer, and their families, £500.
